Questions people ask

Where can I recycle a mattress?

The EPD dataset has no mattress category and mattresses are not among GREEN@COMMUNITY's nine recyclables. Large furniture is generally handled as bulky waste; ask your building management. (Editorial note) More →

Can I recycle AA (disposable) batteries?

The EPD's network does not accept disposable batteries (alkaline, zinc-carbon, button cells), only rechargeable ones. Tape over the terminals of rechargeable batteries first. More →

How do I get rid of an old air conditioner, fridge or washing machine?

These are regulated electrical equipment. Book the Government contractor's free door-to-door collection on 2676 8888 or WhatsApp 6081 5096, or take them to a Recycling Station, Store or Spot. More →

Has waste charging started?

No. The Waste Disposal (Charging for Municipal Solid Waste) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 was passed in August 2021, but in May 2024 the Government shelved implementation with no start date, and has since said it will stay suspended. Check the EPD for the latest position. More →
